Tower defense games are all the rage in the App Store and, with over 900 ratings and a 4/5 average score, Fieldrunners is undoubtedly the best one on the market. To those new to the tower defense genre, the premise is simple. Build various types of towers to stop enemies from making a B-Line from one end of the map to the other. With three different maps, three different difficulty settings and 6 different towers – the possibilities really are endless. You’ll find yourself playing for hours on end trying to best high-scores. So much for small bursts of gameplay huh?
Pros:
Smooth animations.
Great sound.
Lots of enemies and towers to suit different play styles.
Very little slowdown even at higher levels.
Unlockables give the game high replay value.
Cons:
No online leader boards or ranking system.
Would have liked to have achievements like other tower defense games.
For such great IP, there haven’t been any updates in over a year.
