The owner of Chelsea’s football club, Roman Abramovich should be excused if it seems like he’s on a mission to make you feel bad about your income. Sometimes a man worth more than $20 billion just wants a nice boat and that’s exactly what Abramovich has accomplished with his $400 million yacht, (the aptly named) Eclipse.The Eclipse is a 550-foot, bulletproof, radar-equipped floating fortress straight out of an Ian Fleming book. The yacht hosts early detection technology to ensure that pirates have no chance of sneaking up onto the boat and weapons defense systems which are heightened on windows and around Ambramovich’s private cabin.
Aside from this there is also a floating harbour attached to the Eclipse and a submarine for quick escapes. Yes . . . the boat is so immense that it actually comes with additional, smaller boats right on-board.
To protect all of this, Abramovich also has a seventy-man crew which is rumoured to be made up of British ex-SAS and SBS forces. Aside from this the Eclipse also hosts a cinema, dance club, hospital and aquarium.
