$name Microsoft predicted RROD; still would unleash it upon the world

Sorry 360 owners - the post wouldn’t be complete without it.

Lets get one thing straight off the bat: Microsoft never intended to infect the 360 market with RROD consoles. In fact, in their haste to release the 360 a year ahead of the Nintendo Wii and the Playstation 3, Microsoft ignored potential warning signs of a 68% failure rate among test consoles. For those of you keeping score - that’s 68 out of 100 Xbox 360’s that were pretty much doomed from the get go.

360 price cuts confirmed, this time by MS

Take that Nintendo - looks like you’re not the only console under $299.99 anymore.

After lots of speculation, magazine ad cut outs and, really, common sense, it seems the Xbox 360 pro bundle will be seeing a $50.00 price cut - effective immediately. This cuts the 20gb console to a reasonable $299.99, which makes it just a bit more than a Nintendo Wii and, still, much more affordable than a PS3.

The reason for the price cut? Microsoft is looking to introduce a new 60gb model sometime in August, which will retail for $349.99.

This move further ensures Microsoft is not looking to jump ship on the 360 anytime soon. With the new model coming out, which includes the Jasper chipset, and the Opus and Valhalla sets due out eventually, it seems MS is ready to stand behind the 360 for at least a little while longer. How long is anyone’s guess, though. Remember, the 360 released a full year ahead of the Wii and PS3 so it really is all guess work as to when Microsoft is going to come out with its third console.

For now, however, this price cut places the 360 in Wii-price territory and owners looking to delve into the console wars should seriously consider picking one up. But, to each his own.

It’s about time. Sony, ball’s in your court.

Microsoft remains mum about the coming price cut to the 360 but Joystiq has all but confirmed it using a montage of flyers from various retailers.

Looks like the 20gb Xbox 360 will be getting a $50.00 price cut. No word on whether the Elites will be seeing a similar dip.

Twenty percent of Canadian men game nude, better go put some pants on

$name Twenty percent of Canadian men game nude, better go put some pants on

Who needs clothes to play video games? They’re way to restrictive in my opinion.

A Microsoft report, highlighted by Kotaku, reveals one in five Canadian men game in the nude. Yes, there was lots of pun intended there. The twenty-percent mark for men is clearly overshadowing the nine-percent of Canadian women who also play games in the nude. Some other points of the report include:

  • 30% of those surveyed game at work.
  • 27% game in the bedroom.
  • 7% game in the bathroom.
  • 19% game in public.

While I’m not above anyone who has done any of these things - I definitely do not game in my birthday suit. I would imagine it would cause a big time problem with controller sharing at parties, perhaps being sticky or, even worse, not sticky enough. And you thought we Canadians were too friendly, we’re just a bunch of perverts.

Bill Gates kinda looks like Paul Gigliotti, what?

They’re definitely brothers from different mothers - or maybe they’re really brothers?

If you look real close at this picture here, you’ll notice a striking resemblance between multi-billionaire Bill Gates and wanna be Canadian musician Paul Gigliotti. For those of you who don’t know, Paul used to be in the Canadian band Wave, which had hits such as: Sleepless, Think it Over, That’s How it Feels and, who could forget, California.

Am I blind or just one with a keen eye? I think we have a winner.

Bill Gates to retire, Vista still crippled

He worked hard for the money, so hard for the money.

According to Gizmodo Australia, June 27th will mark the day when Bill Gates will finally be quitting his day job at Microsoft.

The Harverd dropout is still worth about $58 billion and looks to dedicate more of his time to the Bill and Melinda Gates foundation.

Now if only he could use some of that money to hire a competant dev team to fix up Vista. That would be a legacy in itself.
