GTA IV PC Release Confirmed, Controversial Mods to Follow
Niko Gets Postmodern
In a move which is sure to surprise pretty much no-one, Rockstar has officially announced Grand Theft Auto IV’s PC port. The new version is scheduled for a November 18th street date in North America while Europeans get their requisite inconvenience through a November 21st release.
The Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 releases of the game were met with critical and popular acclaim so it’s a safe bet to assume continued user support and money flowing into Take-Two Interactive’s collective pockets.
Rockstar Gaming’s promise of DLC for console owners still hasn’t been delivered upon but its inevitable release is being hefted as an incentive toward purchasing the PC version. Aside from the promise of additional content an expanded multiplayer set-up has been discussed as well.
The PC crowd will probably be anticipating another installment of the user-created (and discovered) features which sparked so much controversy with Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas’ ‘Hot Coffee’ mod and it seems only natural that oversexed and ambitious GTA fans will find a way to work a little more detail into the final progress scenes of Niko’s dates.
Perhaps most surprising is the fact that the port is being announced while console versions are still selling in high numbers which shows a pretty unusual level of support for the computer crowd. The company is promising that Liberty City looks and plays even better in the new edition but it’s going to be pretty hard to find many people who haven’t already taken the plunge and are still excited for a half-year old title’s re-release.
