Diehard Goths Upset about Diablo III

Apparently a lot of Diablo fans hate colour. Recent news has seen a segment of the gaming population in outrage regarding Blizzard’s choice to make Diablo III a visually exciting experience.

While there is some credence to the argument gained by former Diablo III lead art director, Brian Morrisroe’s departure from the staff just after brightly coloured screenshots were unveiled the company has repeatedly announced that Morrisroe’s decision had nothing to do with colours and that he was actually instrumental in shaping the new aesthetic.

Fans are upset that their beloved franchise which featured dark, gritty and ‘realistic’ environments has been updated to a somewhat cartoony style with varied art styles. They have seemed to ignore the fact that the first two Diable installments featured skeletons and ghosts which would often turn neon green when clicked upon in poorly rendered dungeons.

The diehards released a petition which didn’t do much . . . probably because the game is so far into development. Now they’ve Photoshopped some ‘preferred’ screenshots! The picture from above is only one of many which has apparently been improved. While they may look nice, the Diablo III lead art designer (replacing Morrisroe), Jay Wilson recently participated in a run-down of why every suggested shot wouldn’t work in the gameplay engine crushing the hopes and dreams of Trent Reznor and Morrisey fans across the globe.
