Non-console gamers rejoice - GTA IV to hit PC, err maybe not.
GTA IV not quite coming to PC, at least not yet. Sorry fellow PC gamers.
In what looked like a solid win for PC owners, the ESRB rating for GTA IV on the Windows platform has been removed. As a PC and a Wii owner, I’m not at all disappointed in the ESRB’s decision to mask the GTA IV’s eventual release for PC. It’s really just a matter of time before the initial GTA IV hype wears down, sales level off and Rockstar Games comes out with a special edition.
I mean, lets be realistic here. Not everyone has a console - let alone a PS3 or a 360. Rockstar has already brought San Andreas and Vice City to the PC in the past, so it would be really puzzling if they keep GTA IV from PC gamers, especially if all it requires is a direct port and some tweaks.
I’d bank on Grand Theft Auto 4 coming to PC in about … oh lets say in about 8 months.
The trends tell me:
- Vice City was released in late October 2002 and was re-released for PC in May 2003.
- San Andreas was released in late October of 2004. It was re-released for PC in June of 2005.
So the turn around time is about 6-7 months. Give them some time off and throw in some typical delays and you’re looking at about 8 months. I’m not worried and you shouldn’t be either.
