Nintendo in more hot soup
I just realized how long that picture actually is. Makes this article look so short in comparison.
According to Reuters the Big N has filed a lawsuit against five Japanese firms for importing equipment that allows illegal programs to be loaded onto the Nintendo DS.
It’s no secret that flash-card options like the R4 and DSTT are probably taking a chunk of change out of Nintendo’s pockets. But, when looking at the large global reach Nintendo has, how much could it really be affecting them? I mean, Nintendo’s target is the casual and young gamer.
I can’t see casual gamers justifying paying anywhere between 30-60 dollars for a piece of hardware they might not use more than once. I also can’t see young gamers begging for flash-cards - as they probably don’t know what they are. The age demographic
that potentially scares Nintendo is the 13-16 year-olds who are now catching on to the homebrew/flash-card scene. If these guys learn about homebrew this early - who knows what they might do when they have kids who want Nintendo products.
In my opinion, Nintendo is doing the worst possible thing. Instead of shunning the homebrew community, they should embrace it and offer a forum for developers to showcase their work. Nintendo, take a page out of Apple’s book for a second and see what they’re doing. Sure, the iPhone was hacked but they didn’t let that escelate into a courtroom brawl.
Pre-teens, teens and adults are not willing to shell out $59.99 for a console game and upwards to $49.99 for a portable game. That’s just non-sense. What Nintendo should do is have games available for download - kinda like Steam. The game will be priced according to amount of power -on’s. For example, if you only want to try the game, you can purchase one power-on for $1.99. If you want it for a week, $5.99. And of coure there’s the option to buy the game at retail.
Doesn’t that sound like a better idea? Now lets quit the fussing on the feuding and get back to what really matters - hardcore nudity.
