Wii Forgot: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles - The Arcade Game

$name Wii Forgot: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles - The Arcade Game

I’m ready to go whenever you are Krang. Just say the word.

It’s no secret - MegaMan 9 will be hitting virtual console shelves, and perhaps Xbox Live and the Playstation Network, soon. The worst kept secret regarding video games today, except for maybe the vaporware Gran Turismo for PSP and Duke Nukem Forever, gamers will soon be able to download the blue bomber to their consoles to take on Dr. Wiley and his army of baddies. To say the least, I’m excited. Mega Man on the virtual console gives me renewed hope for a re-release of Mega Man III - yes, the Mega Man with Snake Man and Magnet Man.

Call me nostalgic, but if you spent most of your childhood playing those - and not ever beating them, you’d have some motivation to shell out five or ten dollars for a chance at redemption.

Another game I was never able to beat, and the topic of this post, is TMNT2: The Arcade Game.

With so many virtual console titles released thus far, 234 in North America according to Wikipedia, I continue to wonder what’s taking Nintendo so long to re-release one of the best multilayer games the video game universe has ever seen. I mean, sure Ice Hockey is fun, but how many times do they really expect me to skate up and down the ice with four large hockey players scoring goals almost at will? I need my turtles fix!

TMNT2 was released on Xbox Live and I’m not sure if that completely crushes its chances of making its way onto the virtual console. One year ago, IGN even reported that this game was going to be released on the VC. What happened?

Nintendo, get off your asses and bring this game back. I have some unfinished business with Shredder, Krang and Bebop.
