20 hours and two cups of coffee later, and alas! I found one!
Save your self a chiropractors bill - let PED3 twist the iPhone.

iPhoneStand

There are literally hundreds of iPhone accessories. In fact, there were hundreds which were on the market awaiting your impulse buy long before the iPhone even stocked the shelves. The PED3 is proof, however, that a needle may be found in the proverbial iPhone hay stack. The PED3 rotating stand will hold your iPhone vertically, horizontally, and in any other degree that would be of service to you, as it has full 360 degree rotation capabilities. Sure it twists and bends, but it also keeps the cords out of the way! There are many benefits to this nifty accessory. It will hold the iPhone in place to allow for easy movie viewing on airplanes or road trips! At $40, this may be worth a second look.

Testing, Testing ..1.2.3? No, 10.5.1

November 7, 2007 · Filed Under Uncategorized · 1 Comment

How soon is now?
AppleInsider leaks a pending update to the recently launched Leopard.

LeopardUpdate

Sources at AppleInsider have leaked news that Apple has already begun to circulate the testing of Mac OS X 10.5.1 Leopard. For those who frequent the Leopard support forums, you are already well aware of the many trials and tribulations of early Leopard adapters.  In fact, there are quite a number of major issues, such as data loss, which Leopard users are yelping about without any official confirmations from Apple.  Therefore, it is no surprise that internally Apple has begun the testing of a new version of Leopard which is designed to eliminate and rectify bugs and possibly security issues. Sometimes you just have to wonder what motivates a specific release of a product?  Is it true final completion, or the necessity to compete and drive profits and make investors happy?

iPhone up, up and upgrade!

November 6, 2007 · Filed Under Uncategorized · Comment

Did you get the 1.1.1 firmware upgrade yet? Good, you’re obsolete.
Rumor has it 1.1.2 is on its way.

iPhone 1.1.2

Thanks to our friends at MacRumors for the heads up that to the US release of 1.1.2. It has been touted that the new Firmware 1.1.2 is slated to ship standard for the European launch of the iPhone, which is scheduled for later in the week. This beckons the questions, when will the US receive this upgrade, and what does it include? Here is what we know thus far:

  • Firmware 1.1.2 is said to be primarily an upgrade to solve several known bugs and security related issues
  • Yes you guessed it, SIM unlock software is once again said to be broken
  • New support for dozens of languages, including full support for French and German with special keyboard lay-outs.

Once again, nothing ground breaking, earth shattering, nor did you really need to be sitting down to absorb this update. However, it will add some new functionality and bug/security fixes that we will all appreciate. When will we have it in the US? Time will tell, but I anticipate this will be sooner rather than later.

StarryNight beats Google to the punch.

Someone actually beat Google to something?
Score one for the little guys!

iPhone Stars

Google Earth continues to impress many, this time with its latest function which allows for toggling of Google Earth and Google Sky. Unless your home offers a convertible top and you are able to peel back the roof while you interact with your Google Earth software, you may be interested in getting your hands on a mobile application. I am sure that Google has plans of their own to offer this service to mobile phones.  Who knows ?  They may plan to start this with their own Google Phone.  However, in their absence, StarryNight is available now, and it too offers some fairly fun and useful information. The application is optimized for both the Apple iPhone and Blackberry phones.  It is easy to use with simple arrow key or roller ball navigation, and it may impress your date when you share your knowledge of the big dipper vs. little dipper, as after all, size does matter.

Sony PS2 drops to $99 .. Soon!

November 3, 2007 · Filed Under Uncategorized · Comment

He who moves forward can’t move backward.
Was it Confucius who said this? No, it was Sony.

$name Sony PS2 drops to $99 .. Soon!

Sony has already set its New Years’ resolution in place with their plan to drop the PS2 price to under $100 in early 2008. They are offering a newly redesigned console with a built-in power supply.  How is this upgrade cause for a price drop? Sony is spinning this by saying that the manufacturer is now able to produce them more economically, and they are passing the savings on to the consumer.  Don’t you just feel all warm and fuzzy inside now? Wait, let me rephrase that…don’t feel all warm and fuzzy inside now. There is another price to pay.  You see, the wonderful friends at Sony have decided to halt all backwards compatibility from the new PS3 model.  Now the picture is getting a bit clearer as to their efforts to dramatically reduce the PS2 pricing.  Nonetheless, you can pick it up cheap in the first quarter of 2008 and hey, beggars can’t be choosers.

Wal-Mart banks on cheap PCs Under $200

November 1, 2007 · Filed Under Uncategorized · Comment

Hey, its $199.. what did you expect?
A great new computer? or an expensive door stop.

$name Wal-Mart banks on cheap PCs Under $200

The race is most certainly on for a low priced PC. For over a year many PC manufacturers, some based in India, have been pronouncing their ability to produce a PC for under $200.00. Unfortunately, this was pure hype and speculation until now.

Wal-Mart performed a study and found that 5% of the customers who purchased a computer from their locations were doing so for the first time. With this in mind, Wal-Mart announced that they will begin stocking a new computer aimed at the entry level and consumer conscious shopper.

Enter Everex, a PC manufacturer whom teamed up gOS to build the gPC TC2502. The price to consumers? A mere $199. So just what can you expect for $199?

  • VIA-powered Ubuntu 7.10 Linux system with an Enlightenment E17 interface
  • OpenOffice.org 2.2
  • 1.5GHz low-wattage VIA C7-D processor
  • 12MB of RAM and an 80GB HDD

The system will not come with a DVD burner or a monitor, which are now common in most packages; however, it will come with the mouse, keyboard and speakers.

Google Phone wiggles its way from myth to $700 per share

Not to be out done, Google steps up to the cell phone plate.
Announcement expected in two weeks

$name Google Phone wiggles its way from myth to $700 per share

The details are very fuzzy, and yes, we are still dealing with rumors, speculation, and myths. However, the sources are getting stronger and share holders, some whom may have inside information, are gobbling up all the shares they can muster. As with the common rules of supply and demand, Goggle stock soared to $700 a share with investors clamoring about the Google Phone announcement, now slated to be two weeks out.

Rather than picking one phone carrier to work solely with, Google is said to be in discussions with both Sprint and Verizon for its debut. A price has not yet been entertained, nor has the OS or specific functionality, yet we are hearing that it may be available to the general public as soon as early 08. This may be a physical Google Phone announcement or an announcement of a Google phone operating system. Time will tell, but with a force such as Google tossing its hat in the ring, you can be sure that it will stir the pot of the telecommunication industry.
